WHY HYDROGEN?
Hydrogen is the most abundant element in the universe. It also has the highest energy density per mass, exceeding that of lithium ion batteries. The group began with a broader idea of investigating storage options within the scope of providing 'district power'. Upon further investigation the group concluded that hydrogen would be the most promising for several reasons. Hydrogen can be stored at large scales and for long periods of time. There are no harmful missions at the point of use, just water. It is not a commodity that needs to be mined, so therefore cannot be used to exploit developing countries. This also means less emissions when producing the resource. It is a resource at that can be accessed by all countries which provides energy security as well.
We believe that hydrogen is the most suitable alternative to fossil fuels for storing energy - the possibilities are endless...
Hydrogen Economy
The method of sizing our system that accounts for the day with the highest demand of electricity leads to anticipation of producing more hydrogen than required by the load. However, this can be viewed as a very positive opportunity whereby the hydrogen can not only be used to provide district power but be sold to generate profit. As the deployment of hydrogen powered vehicles is on the rise in line with policies set by governments all over the world to reduce transport emissions, the requirement for hydrogen fuel is expectedly on the rise.
